Position Summary

The Production Planner is responsible for ensuring that daily production and distribution runs as smoothly and efficiently as possible.


Responsibilities

- Provide daily and weekly product requirements to the procurement department
- Manage scrap to goal levels by working with other departments to prevent overstocking, improper rotation, or miscommunication related to raw product use
- Plan for the start-up of new items and discontinuance of items
- Develop and maintain accuracy of planning parameters
- Develop daily production plans to ensure that finished goods are available for the warehouse to meet customer orders within proper timeframes
- Utilize existing scheduling tools to develop daily production schedules based on sales forecast and actual orders.
- Recommend modifications to enhance planning effectiveness
- Develop forecast and demand planning process methodology resulting in customer service excellence and supply chain optimization
- Create and maintain a rolling unit forecast at the SKU level and drive the forecast process
- Define demand forecast metrics and determine best method to improve forecast accuracy
- Lead development and execution of communication and performance enhancements to demand planning processes and systems
- Participate in monthly Sales & Operations Planning initiative
- Leverage strong leadership and collaboration skills to build relationships with sales, marketing, operations and executive management
- Assess current environment, design and implement changes associated with people, process and technology
- Identify potential supply chain issues
- Provide technical and process expertise, guidance and support to other team members
- Provide thought leadership to assemble vision for continuous improvement
- Other related duties as assigned
